Review of White Mountain Armory, Adam Berry proprietor:

I have purchased two items from White Mountain. The first was a swept-point ocular helmet, mild steel, made-to-order. The helmet is identical to that seen here, number H12. I paid $475 at the time of purchase, the price has since gone up to $500. I cannot exaggerate how well-made the helm is. The finish was flawless, and the welding very professionally done. The helm was painted inside to retard rusting and came well-packaged and wrapped in bubble wrap. After padding with a layer of foam and a layer of sheepskin fleece, the fit was perfect. After four months, I had some trouble with the aventail attachment, which Mr. Berry fixed promptly and free of charge. I have been using the helmet for over one year now, and love it every time I put it on. Incidentally, his SCA-legal Kettle helms are without equal.

The second item I purchased was a pre-assembled stainless steel lamellar cuirass. This cuirass was purchased “off-the-rack”, already laced for someone near my size. I paid $400 for the cuirass, however the plates may be purchased unassembled for considerably less. The plates are based on those found at Wisby, but with a Birka-style hole pattern, and when laced are very flexible, allowing the finished cuirass to mold beautifully to the body. After the removal of the bottommost row of plates (I am short-waisted), the armor fit beautifully. I have been fighting in it now for one month, and found the protection to be excellent while allowing for a good deal of mobility. A similar cuirass can be seen here.

Mr. Berry has been a true professional through all my dealings with him. He delivers on-time, his communication regarding orders is excellent, and he takes great pride in his work. Though pricey for a new fighter, his armor is well worth the cost to fighters willing to upgrade their kit for a better and more authentic look, or for increased wear and durability. He has been understanding of finding the right fit for smaller fighters.
